Circuit Update: Silverstone International Circuit

Silverstone Circuit has been updated to show the various layouts that have been used since the circuit’s inauguration in 1948. Often said as the “Home of British Motorsport”, Silverstone has been used as a venue for Formula One since the sport’s inception in 1950, holding claim as the first ever Grand Prix. Since then the circuit has evolved and with a recent redevelopment of the pit and media buildings, Silverstone’s future looks bright. (more…)

Germany has been almost completed, adding eighty-three circuits to the Europe section of AerialF1. Germany obviously has a strong link with motorsport and more on that will be written soon. The section is continually being updated at the moment because there are many more circuits and tracks in the country. (more…)

Site Update: Switzerland

Switzerland has been added to the Europe section of AerialF1, detailing nineteen circuits in the country. Switzerland has a long history with motorsport, although the nation is most famed in this area for banning the sport for 52 years. The country prohibited motorsport after a terrible accident in the 1955 Le Mans which killed 80 spectators and a driver. However in 2007 the ban was lifted, although the parliamentary vote was close, with 97 vs. 77 in favour of the change. Switzerland hosted a round of the Formula One championship between 1950 and 1954 at the Bremgarten Circuit. (more…)

The M – Z sections have been added to the United Kingdom page in the Europe section, detailing another 47 circuits bringing the total UK tracks up to 136. Although information on the circuits is yet to be added to all, the imagery is there and the overlays are starting to be constructed. (more…)
